“Provision for personal development and pastoral care is outstanding, and prepares pupils particularly well to move on to their next schools with confidence and maturity.” ISI Inspection, 2009.
The pastoral care provided by all staff at Terra Nova ensures each and every child is safe and happy. Led by the Deputy Headmaster Pastoral, and a team of form tutors, pupils are encouraged to develop essential social skills.
We also operate a successful ‘Buddy system’, whereby the older children of the school are ‘buddied’ with the younger children. The system, originally designed to help Year 3 children make the transition to the ‘Big’ Prep School, partners Year 3 children with Year 8’s, Year 2’s with Year 7’s and Year 1’s with Year 6’s.
The scheme encourages interaction between children of all age groups, promotes positive role modelling, allows children to develop leadership and mentoring skills and most importantly of all – enables the children to have fun.
