We have successfully been accepted as a member of London 2012’s UK-wide reward and recognition scheme, the Get Set network. Get Set is the official London 2012 education programme, and through this programme, our pupils have been learning about the Games and the Olympic and Paralympic Values.
We are planning to ‘Get Set’ with our own Olympic challenge and run the equivalent distance to the distance the Olympic torch will travel around Britain when it arrives from Greece in May – a distance of 8,000 miles. This works out around 44 miles per child in the Prep School, a mile per child in Pre-Prep and Nursery and a mile from all staff.
School Miles so far: 1935
We would like to go all out and get sponsorship for this event. Just £45 per child would raise us an impressive £13,500 as a whole school. Half the money raised would go towards a new community minibus, which the school uses on a regular basis and also benefits the local community in numerous ways. The rest would be invested in new sports equipment for us.
In the summer term, we will bring the fund-raising to a close with a ‘mini Olympics Ceremony’.
Sponsorship forms will be issued after half term and we look forward to ‘Getting Set’.
