RSPB Wildlife Explorers visit Nursery
01 February 2010
Volunteer leaders from the Macclesfield RSPB Wildlife Explorers visited our Nursery as part of their "Big Schools' Birdwatch."
The nursery and reception children at Terra Nova took part in the RSPB's "Big Schools' Birdwatch". A group of volunteers from the Macclesfield RSPB Wildlife Explorers came along to talk to the children about the type of birds they might see in the school grounds - they then donned their wellies and picked up their binoculars and went outside to watch them. They listened to some bird songs and also looked at the colours of some of the more brightly coloured ones. They saw: chaffinch, blue tit, redwing, blackbird, song thrush, jackdaw, coal tit and a buzzard.
The Big Schools' Birdwatch is an excellent opportunity for children to start learning about the natural world around them, have some fun and contribute to a national survey.
