Six get Awards to their Senior School

11 February 2010

Terra Nova School, near Jodrell Bank, is celebrating some fantastic news. Six of their Year 8 pupils have gained awards to their Senior School. Alicia Anderson was awarded an Art Scholarship to Repton; Abigail Lawton was awarded an Art Scholarship to Moreton Hall; Grace Bolshaw and Henry Dale were awarded Design Technology Exhibitions to Repton; and Olivia Beck and Jessie Walsh were awarded a Headmaster’s Exhibition by the Head of Repton.

Fiona Fontes, the Head of Art at Terra Nova, commented, "These Art scholarships are well deserved. Both girls have worked extremely hard and made great progress over the past two years. I know there was strong competition for both awards, but the feedback from both schools was very complimentary – praising the girls for the standard, individual qualities and quantity of their work. As a department my aim is to give all pupils at Terra Nova an Art experience which will inspire a lifelong interest in the subject.”

Clare Curtis, the Head of Design Technology, added, "Grace and Henry have taken every opportunity to work on their design portfolios and products in order to gain their Award to Repton School. There was a lot of competition and the standards were high. They are hardworking, talented students and I am delighted with their achievement.”

Andrew Lewin, the Headmaster, also added, "I saw the potential at our Art and Design Technology Show before Christmas. It is fantastic that all the many extra hours of hard work by both the children and the Staff have been recognised in such a way. I am extremely proud of them all. It is a tremendous achievement as these awards are extremely competitive. They have all achieved something very special - many congratulations."
