Our Nursery is alive with colour, excitement and inspiration, and children have access to interesting and stimulating indoor and outdoor spaces.
Room to Grow
Children can explore a range of media, techniques and textures in our creative room, as well as in our two spacious classrooms. Here we have exciting and challenging learning areas, including a dedicated story corner, literacy and numeracy zones, imaginative role-play areas, small world, construction challenges, computer bays and an investigation area.
Getting Messy
Fun and learning doesn’t just happen indoors either! Children love our special outdoor learning environment, which boasts a vast sandpit and adventure play area, two large fields and a vegetable and herb garden. They also enjoy a paved area for riding bikes, a range of playhouses, outdoor painting and water-based activities.
Early Years Foundation Stage Framework
In the Nursery and Reception classes we focus on the following six key areas of learning and development within the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
- Creative Development
Planning and Reporting
Early Years staff interact, observe, extend and challenge the children in their learning opportunities, allowing them to build a detailed picture of individual awareness for each child. From here, next steps can be planned and expectations are individual and personal.
Good communication with parents is a priority, and staff operate an open door policy. We provide regular written reports and hold parents’ evenings throughout the year. Alongside this, daily exchanges and a written weekly report describing events for the week are also provided, and valued.
Available Sessions
We encourage our Nursery children to attend a mimimum of five sessions (half days) per week, and various half day and full day sessions are offered. Mornings are available from 8:45 – 11:45 and afternoons from 13:00 - 15:25. Both sessions also offer the option of staying for lunch. Activities are then available at the end of the School day, or our After School Club, Tembos, is open until 18:00.
We run Nursery Taster Sessions throughout the year; please contact Melanie Machin, Headmaster’s PA, if you would like to attend with your child- 01477 571 261.
