When a child reaches Year 5 at Terra Nova they become part of the Middle School. It is at this stage of their education that they are taught by subject specialist teachers for all lessons and move to the subject department to be taught.
Each form group in the Middle School is looked after by a Form Tutor, who is responsible for the morning registration and daily organisation of the form group. The Form Tutor is the point of contact for parents and will oversee the academic and pastoral progress of each pupil in that form group.
In the Middle School the School day begins at 8:20, and pick-up times vary throughout the week as follows:
Monday: 5:15pm
Tuesday: 5:15pm
Wednesday: 4:00pm (4:00pm for Year 4)
Thursday: 5:15pm
Friday: 5:15pm
All children have the option of staying for supervised homework sessions, activities and an evening meal (at no extra charge).
Parents’ Evenings are held twice each academic year and are an opportunity for parents to discuss the progress of each child with individual subject teachers. There are also numerous informal opportunities for parents to meet subject teachers and discuss their child’s progress throughout the year.
