Senior School (Years 7 & 8)

Children in Years 7 and 8 at Terra Nova make up the Senior School and, as such, are encouraged to take more responsibility for their learning and contribution to school life. The Form Teacher continues to oversee the academic and pastoral progress of each pupil in the form group and continue to be the point of contact for parents.

In the Senior School the School day begins at 8:20, and pick-up times vary throughout the week as follows:

Monday: 5:15pm
Tuesday: 5:15pm
Wednesday: 4:00pm (4:00pm for Year 4)
Thursday: 5:15pm
Friday: 5:15pm

All children have the option of staying for supervised homework sessions, activities and an evening meal (at no extra charge).

There is a growing formality in the undertaking of their academic studies as they prepare for transfer examinations to the Senior Schools of their choice at 13 +. They continue to be taught entirely by subject specialist teachers, with great emphasis placed on developing the skills, knowledge and confidence which will secure their future success.

Staff recognise the importance of working in partnership with parents to provide their children with the best educational experience. There are numerous opportunities, both formal and informal, for parents to discuss their child’s progress with staff.
